My name is Sammy 'Stone" Atchison and I am an ETA.  in January a book was released on my life story titled "My Life As An Elvis"  I have been working trying to sell books and get publicty and promotion for the book but I haven't had much luck.  If anyone is interested the book is available on Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.com

Hello Everyone; My name is Frank Lee Smith, known as (Frankie Lee) Tribute Artist; I live in the Dallas , Ft. Worth area of TEXAS, but travel to anyplace to perform, if the money is right; I am not big time yet, but trying to get there like many; I was a late bloomer, now with only 7 years as a Elvis Tribute Artist, but have been in Music 45 years, part-time before . I have sang Elvis Music since my high school days in the late 1950's with joining my first Rock Band in 1959, as a drummer and back up vocalist;
I was raised in the Mississippi River Delta, not far from where Elvis was raised up in Tupelo but on the Arkansas side of the River, across from Greenville, Miss.; I also like him was a Sharecroppers son on a Cotton Plantation, We all then were very Poor, but got by in Life;
I felt kinda close to Elvis, even not knowing him personally, because of us both being sons of SHARECROPPERS in the South; Also my family the Smiths, came originally from the same area of Mississippi, Elvis's mother grew up in, she also being a Smith; We have not found any direct ties of blood kin;
I moved to Texas after serving in the ARMY, because of wanting to go to a Commercial Art School in Dallas, and I stayed all these years.

While working to make a living, I would join or put together Country Bands to at least stay in music part-time, which was my passion;

About 30 years ago, I went to doing a One Man show, using Bandtracks as my back up, becoming one of the first in the country, to do One Man Shows like that for bookings; I built a traveling stage and began booking County Fairs, Grand Openings, etc; for years to come, doing well with it;

In 1979 when I began as a ONE Man Show, using Band Tracks, and the tracks then were very limited to purchase, as there was not Yet a KARAOKE Name attached to what some of us were doing. Only the Sing Along Company in Nashville had a few to purchase, on 33 & a third records, and Cassette Tapes.

So to get more modern tracks, we had to rent time from a Local Studio, taking in bands to record, and they took off my lead singing voice, to hand me tracks, of only the Band, so I could sing out live performing using the Band Tracks as we called them;
Later the Japanese got a hold of the Nashville Sing Along Recordings, and started the crase in Japan, and named it Karaoke, meaning (Everyone get up & sing to have FUN) Then from that, it started catching on heavy in the US, but we already had it on limited basis, as Sing Along;
well at least I was a small part of the early days of KARAOKE, and am proud of being there; I might mention though, that the studio in Grand Prairie, Texas, where I use to take in Bands for recording, was owned by Mr. Leo Teel, and he was the man who had been for a few years recording Country & Gospel bands in his studio, and being the engineer., he had the idea of taking off the lead voice, and having only the band tracks, because TV Shows in New York & California had for a few years done this, for live shows, so the bands were recorded letter perfect beforehand, then only the lead singer on live show, would have the spotlight not needing then the live band;
Having over a 100 tracks gathered without lead voice, Mr. Teel contacted an old friend in Nashville, who was big with RCA Victor, and they later made the deal for Leo Teel to furnish the recordings, which was the main Batch of Tracks, the Sing Along Company started the first SING ALONG MUSIC, OF Standard Classics for Country & Gospel, for Parties Etc;
So my friend , Mr. Leo Teel, was a pioneer in helping start KARAOKE as we all know it today; A little History Note for you, I know a lot about, Proudly;;
