AmyBeth, as to showcasing Artists instead of contests.. hmmm,
I am a little iffy on that thought. I like the idea of contests. You
see with the contests, although it is not always about winning, many
guys that go into it are new at this. AmyBeth, with these contests too,
this is also a good opportunity for them to develop upon showmanship
and all skills of being an ETA and at the same time receive positive constructive criticism that helps them in the long run.. I know that with the contests too, there is a special friendship and comaraderie that develops between the guys and gals and they would all miss this. Make sense of the point I am trying to bring across?

Now that I think of it, YES Tarie you are correct ETA's should be able to come back if the place 2nd, 3rd to get the opportunity to place to win! :) Which many of them do along the way.

Jesse as for what is involved in the organizing of the contests, I have not done one personally, however, I have been involved in a small and special way with this community and of contests now since about 1992 and I have a pretty good idea of what is involved in the organizing, and the monies involved and the looking for sponsors and etc, etc. Jesse, I have over the many years gotten to know enough of the organizers to develop this knowledge, and have been a big supporter of the community and of the organizers and assisting to promote their contests over the past many years which I too do for the LOVE OF ELVIS.

Afterall Jesse, most people in the community that truly know me. Know that when it comes to ETA's and organizers of these contests, that I have the highest respect for both. My belief and I stand by it (though many fans doubt but all is entitled ot their own beliefs). Respectfully and in all honesty, I believe it is the ETA community that has allot to do with Elvis' memory being as strong as it is more than 30 years later. You see, many of you guys put on a whole production (recreating most of his concerts from the early eras to the latter) and this is incredible for fans that may have never seen Elvis perform LIVE... this helps to keep Elvis' fanbase incredibly strong and on top of this, when it comes to the various festivals, there are always newer generations of fans at the festivals too and there we have a new fanbase developed and they bring their children and so on and so forth!

So these are my thoughts on ETA's and organizers of contest and how great I think you all are!

omg yes we should be able to come back if we win 2nd or 3rd. now i agree about the first place winner but that isnt fair you cant help if u win 2nd or 3rd and not first i mean its great if you place but why the heck do they not let the second or 3rd place winner come back. i mean they didnt win....so dont they get another chance

I have an opinion on these contests and have discussed this with some ETA's and some of them agree with me on this. At these contests, I feel that once and ETA has won (whether it be first, 2nd or 3rd place), then they should not the next year be allowed to enter that same contest again the following year and etc. I feel that other ETA's that have not been in these different contest should have the opportunity to enter. (unfortunately many are not getting this, because of the same ETA's year after year entering). What is other ETA's take on this? You agree with what I have just said?

I am not a Tribute Artist, but i travel to see them a lot, i have a question do most of you ETA have an agent?

I am not a Tribute Artists. However for many years now (since 1992), I have been supporting the ETA community and helping ETAs and their promoters/managers and organizers to promote their shows vie my ETA fanbase that I have developed over the many years.

I have grown a familiarity with the different contests and am yes also familiar with LadyLuck's as well, Elvis Extravaganza and many others..

I've been involved in Showcases a couple of times...the problem is that they seem to showcase the same people all of the time...Lady Luck for instance does Showcase and contest events several times a year and many of the same ETAs are involved in just about all of them. It can be just as biased that way, too.
