About Me:
Many in the business have come to know me as Commodore Tom...long story, has to do with being an Elvis Star Trek fan. In the ETA world, I work for musician, songwriter, & ETA - Rick Saucedo. (I run Stage Lighting/FX, Photography, & Internet sites). I also host his radio show - Heartbeat Radio at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheRickSaucedoShow. I've also worked with Gino Monopoli on occasion.

I am also Elvis: That's The Way It Is Fan Club of Chicago's music DJ and I have my own running article in the club's worldwide quarterly newsletter.

Biography:
I'm from Chicago and was born right into the music of Elvis (thanks to my parents & grandmother). As I was growing up, I didn't often admit to others that I was an Elvis fan until late in high school. Usually I had to put up with a lot of crap from other kids in school who didn't like Elvis, but now it is what it is and my friends have learned to respect it or deal with it. I'm one of the more modest people you will meet, but I take pride in saying that I'm probably one of the most knowledgable and well-informed Elvis fans of my generation, especially under 30.

I have enough of an appreciation for the music to where I study it, take-by-take, down to each RCA Nashville, American Sound Studio, MGM Studio, Sun Studio, and Stax Studio session. I study the session logs, the private recordings, the live recordings, the tours, the setlists, jumpsuits, and so on.

Being a DJ, It took a while, but I've got a collection I'm proud of. What I play includes all studio masters (available in session order), some private recordings, and some of the best live concert recordings...an achievement that took a lot of time and effort, but pays off, making it a great tool for an Elvis DJ.

My ELVIS favorites:
Favorite Elvis era: 1970 In Concert.

Favorite songs: "Suspicious Minds", "Where No One Stands Alone", "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain", "I'm Comin' Home", "There's a Brand New Day on the Horizon" & more.

Favorite Elvis movie: "Tickle Me".

Favorite Elvis jumpsuit: 1972 Blue Owl

Favorite Elvis album: 1976's "From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis Tennessee"

I was never really into ETAs until I started working for Rick back in 2004 and began meeting new ETAs. In my early childhood, my parents took me to see numerous ETAs of the Midwest, Rick included, but also Trent Carlini, Dave Carlson, Bob West, Irv Cass, and Joe Tirrito to name a few. I've learned a lot since then, and have seen many more, and since then, there are a few of those ETAs I would not see knowing what I know now and I've come to notice that many are just not that good, but as I've been circulated through the ETA world by Rick and worked behind the scenes on several productions, I have come to know dozens of ETAs personally and I have my favorites. There are some really good (and underrated) ones out there, just like there are many overrated ones out there. I'm one of the harshest critics when it comes to ETAs. I look for authenticity. I'm basically a perfectionist. Someone who is not trying to be a carbon copy of Elvis, but is paying tribute to him with their own unique style mixed in, but still, I look for the accurate suit/hair/song choice combo, the charisma, stage presence and most importantly, voice. For example, if an ETA is doing a '70s Jumpsuit tribute, they need to have longer, thicker sideburns. Also, do they have a singer's voice? Does it have an Elvis sound? Are they trying too hard or forcing it? I like them to have a natural voice that resembles Elvis', I don't like it to be a forced imitation with a messed-up vibrato. It's not all about the look, either. Just because women think he's "cute" is no excuse to call him one of the best when he can't sing. Looks mean nothing without the voice. I have a high respect for ETAs, though, as they are living a dream of theirs, some of which to a great level of success. There are those who know they have a gift and they do justice to Elvis, and it's to those ETAs that I thank and appreciate.
