About Me:
Welcome to my Elvis page! THANKYAVERYMUCH for stopping by.

Ricky King is my alter ego....it is what happens when I put on the Elvis jumpsuit. I have been a huge Elvis fan since I was a kid. I starting singing his songs with my first band in 1975 at age 11 and saw him in concert when I was 13. I also went to his funeral in Memphis that same year; returning home on my 14th birthday. Most of my friends (and even my family) confuse my birthday (8/19) with the Elvis anniversary (8/16), so I get alot of early birthday greetings.

I am just getting back into doing my tribute to Elvis, having been recently inspired to do so after surprising my good friend Celeste on her 80th birthday by singing a set of Elvis tunes for her party. (For the whole cool story on my lifelong friendship with Celeste, please read my blog).

I am glad that there is a site like this for "Elvis Freaks" like me (& you!) and look forward to meeting more of you. I told my wife that there is one thing that ALL Elvis Tribute Artists have in common....none of us sound as much like Elvis as we THINK we do ....which is only testimony to the POWER of the FEELING of wearing that jumpsuit and belting out an Elvis song!

THAT'S what I love about this site....it's not just professional impersonators or singers... it's fans and everyday 9-5 working guys who just love Elvis and like to get their Elvis on and be "The King" for a night...I LOVE that!

GO FOR IT Dudes!....Have fun!....LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

WE PLAYED FOR THE GOV'S WEDDING

The Buzzcatz and I were honored to play for the wedding of FLA Governor Charlie Crist & Carol Rome on 12.12.08. The Governor and Mrs. Crist and their 300 guests danced the night away at the beautiful Vinoy Resort in St. Pete, FL to the sounds of THE BUZZCATZ on a gorgeous December night. We wish the Governor and Mrs. Crist a lifetime of happiness! BTW...his ONE musical request was THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY.

Elvis was my first concert - 2/15/77

I had the privilege to see Elvis on February 15,1977 at the Orlando Sports Stadium. It was the first concert I ever attended. I was 13 and was a huge Elvis fan, having already been doing my impersonation of him professionally for 2 years. I went with my Mom and we ran into my friend, Celeste at the concert. She is the biggest Elvis fan I know and she used to come and see me perform all the time.

As much as I loved Elvis and wanted him to be great, even at my young age I could tell that it wasn'… Continue

ELVIS Chinese restaurant in LONDON

If you are an Elvis fan or just a fan of the strange and unusual, I have a place for you to check out next time you are in London. It was 10 years ago that I was there, but I am sure this place it still there....it is a bit of an institution. I went to London in 1998 with my friend Dean. We went over to see Liverpool and London (we're huge Beatles fans) and to take in the Billy Joel & Elton John concert. Liberty Devitto, who played drums with Billy for 30 years, is a friend of mine and invit… Continue

CELESTE TURNS 80!

I had the honor of singing for my good friend Celeste Youtz's 80th birthday last week. Check this out...her 80th birthday was on 8/8/08...all eights! Pretty cool.

I met Celeste in 1975, my first year as an entertainer. I was 11 yrs. old and fronting a band at a club in Orlando. The way she tells it, her daughter (she has 6 daughters and 2 sons!!) grabbed her when they were leaving the dining room of the same club and said "Mom, you've got to come and see this little kid doing Elvis!" and they r… Continue

Man this is great. I'm having fun finding some of my old friends from FL. It's great to touch bases again. Left a note on FB for you regarding the tape. Had some questions on the flip side.

Hey Ricky, If that was you singing, Wonderful World, you did an outstanding job! All of your tunes are great but this one is so far above the rest that I am amazed. It's rare to find songs that bring out the magic in our voices but you did it on this one.
Simply outstanding job!
