BEWARE OF "LEGENDS IN CONCERT"

I have just returned from the "Legends in Concert" Ultimate Elvis Competition in Atlantic City. Fortunate for me, I had other business in Atlantic City to justify the trip. However, for many that was not the case. This production was a disgrace and a desecration to the name Elvis Presley. The band was a joke and should go to the unemployment line where they belong. Not one song was performed correctly, even with the help of sheet music! And the backup singers - Gina, Regina and Dave. OH LORD HOW GREAT THOU ART because without your help Lord I would have choked all three for not even knowing the backup lyrics to the song. The ETAs at this event all deserved better. The MC belonged in a $5 cover charge bar on one of the back streets. When performing on stage at Resorts International Hotel in Atlantic City, with the sanction of Elvis Presley Enterprises, everyone on stage and in the audience deserved a high class production. "Legends in Concert" is a two bit, make the money and run organization and should not be affiliated with Elvis Presley Enterprises. Can anyone offer their experience?

Permalink Reply by Ida Pratt on July 28, 2008 at 9:36pm: you are right about not diminishing bryan's win and we didnt joe and all of congratulated him. the complaint is that EPE should have rules on how these are run andshouldhave judges that you can choose from and definitely the judges should not be mingling with the contestants before the competion

Permalink Reply by ERocK on July 28, 2008 at 9:41pm: Well I don't know about other Legends, But I have sang at the one in Branson 2 times, and it was Awesome!! Good band both times. But I have been in a few in other venues,"not Legands" where the band was not so good. I think what happens is that they lose some band members due to sickness, or they quit, and they have to put together something ASAP, cause the show as been booked. So I don't think it has anything to do with Legands, I think the responsibility falls on Management!! Legands has been around for a long time, and I've seen some great shows there. So I think we should show are disgust toward Management and not towards Legands as a whole. That's just my opinion!!

Permalink Reply by Ida Pratt on July 28, 2008 at 11:10pm: this contest was poorly managed heck the contestants didnt even get the info about when and where to report until 3 days before the day of the event we were told that if they were late they wouldnt be able to compete but bryan scottca came in 2 hours late and he was allowed tocompete??? but I think what really upset mewas the fact that everyone got a beautiful introduction by the emcee but all Joe got was Joe Ramsey from GlensFalls NY. thery knew inrehearsal this band wasnt up topar onsomesongs soothersongs shouldve been chosed whytherehearsal???

Permalink Reply by Kathy on July 29, 2008 at 5:54am: Hi ERock and thank you for the info. As I'm sure you can see by the responses, Atlantic City seemed to have something gone very wrong. It is good to know that at least Branson and Myrtle Beach have not experienced the same problem. Atlantic City is the home base for Legends and it was appalling to have this happen. Obviously it costs more than the $20 admission for most people to attend these events (and the $20 was actually $29.80 with surcharges and taxes!). But I think it is a tremendous tribute to each competitor that people are willing to spend their hard earned money and vacation time to visit these venues. The cost for my trip to Wisconsin currently stands at $800 and I am more confident that it is a good investment than I would be spending another $29.80 on Legends (that does not, however, give Ronny the right to up the ticket price!). So I end my involvement in the discussion I started with the same word I began with, to everyone who plans on attending an event like this, please BEWARE of "Legends in Concert" - it may turn out to be a good time or it could turn out to be a disaster.

Permalink Reply by Andy Svrcek on July 28, 2008 at 9:43pm: I was just saying that being fairly new to this,as far as competitions go,you would think that the background singers would know the words.That being said Joe did a good job keeping it together.In my opinion I had a great time doing my song and I think the crowd for the most part responded to all the ETA's in a very loving way. Hey I would think we are all there ,ETA's and fans alike,to show our love for ELVIS.At least thats why I do what I do,to keep Elvis and his spirit alive.TCB

Permalink Reply by Peggy Sue Benway on July 28, 2008 at 10:22pm: In my opinion,from reading all the comments.I 'd say the management didn't do its part ..Sounds like all the ETAS tried to make the best out of a poorly handle Competition and a band that wasn't quite up to par..Yes I'm a fan of Joe Ramsey also, and I've heard him perform "How Great Thou Are" . He puts his heart & soul into the song. Hes not going to let this get him down ,any more than I think the other ETAS that were there..They just more and likely will not go to Atlantic City Competition Again! This is justed my opinion...

All the ETA gave it there best, put the band was on the right one for this competition. I feel the band was more for Garth and so on the Elvis, but Joe did his best and this will not bring him down its just anther steping stone for him. I feel bad for all the ETA because they didn't have a change the band sucked for all them it was right on for the 3 winners, what up with that.
