About Me:
Rex Stone Website www.rexstone.piczo.com
A very talented Canadian, with a heart as BIG as his Country (Music)
That was a headliner I once read about a show I had performed. I really liked what it said because I felt it was true. I have a huge heart and a talent that only God could have given me. I have always used it to the best of my ability to entertain, and bring musical joy into people’s lives. I am a salt of the earth kind of guy and have always hoped that someday my gift could be used in a way to bring joy to lesser fortunate people, especially children!
I learned of a very sad reality in our world and that was of terminally ill children and the great organization called “The Children’s Wish Foundation quite a number of years ago and it has been my intent to help in any way I could. Too bad I wasn’t a rich man, for if I were, terminally ill children would have every opportunity possible to live out their short lives in joy and happiness.
Sincerely Rex Stone
I started singing at the tender age of 3. I had this old shoe box that my dad put together with a tree twig and I used to sing, tap my feet, and strum to this old Gidar (as I called it) I’m sure I drove everyone nuts but my mother used to say that I would be a country singer one day. We came from poor Eastern province but were never poor in the sight of God and his love. My mamma took all us kids to church every Sunday and at age 5 our minister turned to my parents and said.” I want that boy in the Junior Choir next Sunday morning”. I was singing solos in a very prominent area choir by the age of 6.
This lead to the Snyder’s Male Chorus and on to some area Musical production groups in which Rex qualified some lead roles in such productions as The HMS Pinafore. By the age of 16 Rex became leader singer for a grouped called Cabera’. This group was a faverorite in his home county area and was very successful. He later formed a spin-off from this group and continued his successful career in a show band setting. In the late seventies Rex discovered that his Tribute act to the king was being highly rated and that many peoples were flocking to take in his show to The King Of Rock & Roll.
He was considered one of the best Elvis Impersonators of the era !.
In 1980 Rex left the Elvis show to pursue his dream in the Nashville scene.
As a Songwriter and Entertainer, he became an integral part of Shotgun Records and produced a number of singles, which aired throughout Canada and the US. The success of these singles created an opportunity for Two Musical Video’s, which were eventually aired by popular demand, on the Nashville Network for 2 solid years along side of the greats such as Haggard, Willie, Strait, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, The Forester Sisters and many others . Rex toured the states, and performed for 14 years and performed in such places as, The Coco Palms Resort in Hawaii,(Elvis’s Hide-away). He became very close the Mrs Grace Guslander…(Elvis’s second mother) and owner of the very secluded private resort and famous for securing Entertainers and High Profile Figures. Rex became very close to Mrs Guslander and Larry Rivera whom backed up the entertainment for Elvis and others. She often stated it was like having Elvis back home to her. Rex always replied by stating he understood why Elvis adored Grace of the Island.
Rex performed across the great American Heartland, Vegas, Grand Ole Opery and opened for the likes of John Denver, Vern Gosdin, and the Hag.
In 1987 due to personal reasons Rex left his dreams behind and returned home. He currently performs in many aspects in the Southern Ontario region for Special Events Charity Concerts, Corporate Functions, Weddings, Senior’s Homes, Dances, and Community functions. He is known as the ( Rich Little ) of the singing world and can perform over 30 different voices such as Elvis, Neil Diamond, Willie, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Glen Campbell, Engelburt, Tom Jones, George Strait, Hank Williams and many of the 50's Rock and Roll Legends.
In 2000/2001 Rex returned to his roots in what he considered his true start and that was following in the footsteps of the KING. Rex appeared in Collingwood as The Canam Elvis and placed in the top 5
Rex always wanted to produce a heart felt Christmas CD of his own, and in 1998, RS Productions was created, and his first Christmas CD soon followed. It was a copulation of many years of work and featured some of his work from the age of 12. Rex soon found a way to generate some monies to donate to his cause and the following year was able to produce a second Christmas CD in which he donated everything above his production costs to the charity of his choice. His plans for this year is too include area musicians and create another Christmas CD. This year he would like to really push the effort and be able to do this on a much bigger scale. This takes many months to produce, and Rex is looking for some help, and some encouragement, Rex is hoping to raise enough this year to donate his proceeds to The Children’s Wish Foundation, to help
Terminally ill Children’s last days on this earth… Just a little brighter!!!!!
